There are many reasons to be negative. This is a learned behaviour. One of the greatest quotes from Buddhism on life is about suffering. Life generally becomes easier when we understand that much of life is suffering. No one likes to suffer. We suffer through sickness, disease, loss, pain and negative mindsets. To deal with life’s suffering, we complain through it. We reflect on the past thinking it was better than our present and we dream about tomorrow which we are not promised. Many of us rarely live in the present. A lot of our suffering, pain and unrest stems from our minds.

Some people enjoy complaining. We complain about the weather being too hot or too cold. Those with children might even blame their children and their spouses on their situation. Or it could be the manager at work or your colleagues. The point is negative thoughts stem from many things, we are all plagued with it. Some, a little more than others.

Recently, the writer saw a video of the award-winning cookbook author Chrissy Teigen. Her husband, John Legend in an emotional tribute said of his wife, whilst receiving an award from Glamour Magazine that his wife did not think she was worthy to be in the gathering of such people like Michelle Obama and Oprah. The point here is even supermodels and celebrities battles with issues of self-worth and self-esteem.

All hope is not lost. The Chinese proverb instructs the longest journey starts with a single step. There is a path out of negativity. There is a path out of being trapped in your mind by negative thoughts, patterns and mindsets.  Keep on reading.
