In her show today, she invited Andrei Roman, an Edmonton photographer and videographer. Humbled by the opportunity, Andrei a fresh university graduate, spoke about the lack of opportunities when he launched out his photography and videography business. There are several businesses which started in the pandemic and are flourishing now. Andrei’s is one of them.
Who is Andrei Roman?
His business website Flux Media Yeg describes him as an Edmonton Photographer who was born in Romania but moved to Canada in 2008.
He focusses on capturing intimate moments so that they can be cherished forever. He is a self taught, internationally published Edmonton photographer. His website boasts of 185 finished photo sessions, 140 studio sessions and 315 happy clients.
He spoke to timing, the ability get orders delivered on time, he spoke to mentoring suggesting he mentors happily anyone who comes to him seeking tips and help about photography. He alluded to the fact that when he first started out in photography, no one helped him. No one wanted to show him the ropes. He said he had to figure out most things himself.
We can believe this as some business people are threatened by competition and they hoard their good will as though without it, no one will do well in business.
A generation Z himself, most of the narratives about Generation Z holds true for Andrei. He is a techkie, meaning he was born into a world with internet. He said in the interview, that he loves gadgets and everything about technology so he has been able to figure out most things himself. This is a characteristic with most millennials too.
Gen Zers have been raised with businesses such as Uber and Airbnb, 72% of them want to start their own business. According to the website, josh.org, Gen Zers are positive about diversity and race and you would find that in Edmonton, this hold true for most people.
