Girls Rights Violations during the Lockdown Period – Nyasha Grace Manzou
Struck by a deadly pandemic, our world has been left in disarray! Preexisting  cries and woes blurred off the picture as the pain blade cuts deeper.
The novel corona virus has caused so much havoc and with the WHO regulations, poverty has knocked our doors with an inevitable pandemic which neither know any boundaries which may lead to its obstruction of its effects.
Due to poverty, prostitution has become the source of basic needs like money to buy food, sanitary wear and grooming items. This results in teen pregnancy cases rising constantly.  Guardians are marketing the females they live with just to bring food on the table resulting in early marriage cases rising regularly.
The world has been turned to a war zone by a mere epidemic which only knows death as its subtitle and it has caused negative effects on females lives. Girls have been forced to restrain from their normal routines. It has evoked many tribulations to emerge.
Girls have been facing challenges with their security. They are locked with perpetrators which may also be violent in nature.  Some male relatives are taking advantage of the girl child and either assault them or rape them. Girls can’t report due to restrictions like going out without a permit.
On account of this scourge, it has caused immense price hikes which also influenced sanitary products to rise in prices. It has made the girl child vulnerable. Now she uses dirt cloths that affect her and results in long term effects like cancer.
Due to owing to the absence of advocacy in sexual healthy reproductive system, the girl child no longer get access to the peculiar information. No one is able to pass the systematic information on HIV testing, screening, menstrual hygiene management and contraceptive methods.
There is no more habitual performance in gender equality. Violations like physical, sexual, spiritual and emotional abuses occurs indoors. The females’ rights are  violated and to an extent, leading to  suicide cases inclining upwards.
This corona virus has  however left the whole world shaking and moving on the tip of their toes. Hopefully the cure will therefore be discovered soon to put a stop to this hostile epidemic and its a solemn request that all things go back to normalcy.
