Light in Darkness Exhibition: Photography by Tope Akindele

Photography Exhibition by Tope Akindele opens in June

Spread the love

Nigerian-born Tope Akindele is Edmonton’s number one photographer.

He showcases his photography at the Multicultural Heritage Centre on June 9th from 6 pm – 9 pm.  The exhibition is themed Light in Darkness and it is a collection of some his most powerful shots as photographer during the pandemic.

Akindele is well known in communities for the compelling nature of his shots. He is not a stranger to people and his work has transcended communities.

According to his website:

“I have always loved to draw and paint right from my early childhood and this love transformed into a passion for photography which drove me to set up my first photography outfit called Orangeman Fotoflix in Festac (Lagos-Nigeria) in 1998”.

“With over 15 years experience in the photography industry and as a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography where I further honed my skills and expertise in the art of photography, I take my client’s needs and requests into consideration when helping them to keep all life’s memorable events and occasions cherished forever”.

“My clients can be assured of an enchanting experience with my core values of professionalism, high quality and legendary service. Always being comfortable knowing that wherever they see a TÓPÉ AKINDELE photography, it is an embodiment of my values”.

“I have been fortunate to work with individuals, families and corporate organisations in Africa and North America, for this I give God the glory”.

“The exhibits will showcase some of the fine art photography created during the pandemic. Light In Darkness is a collection of work that invites us to examine life’s journey as extremes on a continuum of sameness”.

“It examines the contradictions and often tensions that arise from our experiences of love, laughter, trauma, inequity and the pandemic”.

“The artist encourages hopeful curiosity as we engage with the exhibition in finding our joy in sadness, pain in happiness while awakening our learners mind to evoke light in darkness”.

The location is Multicultural Heritage Centre, 5411 51 Street, Stony Plain, AB T7Z 1X7
