Call for Submissions – Indigenous Artist Design

The Alberta Human Rights Commission (Commission) acknowledges that what we call Alberta is the traditional and ancestral territories and gathering place for diverse Indigenous peoples.

This includes 45 First Nations and 140 reserves who are subject to Treaties 6, 7, and 8, Métis Settlements and the 6 Regions of the Métis Nation of Alberta, and Inuit who have lived in and cared for these lands for generations.

We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and for those who have gone before us.

We respect and honour the Treaties that were made on all territories, we recognize the harms and injustices of the past, and we are committed to moving forward in partnership with Indigenous Peoples in the spirit of reconciliation and collaboration to remove barriers and address discrimination.

The Commission is inviting designs for an image (graphic or logo) that represents our commitment to working with Indigenous people to address discrimination in Alberta.

With this call, the Commission aims to work with Indigenous artists to create a graphic interpretation that embodies our Indigenous Human Rights Strategy. The image will be used on our website and in other digital and print forms.

Designs will be reviewed and selection recommendations will be made by members of the Commission’s Indigenous Advisory Circle.
