The Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) is excited to announce a new partnership with Canadian Western Bank (CWB). As part of this new partnership, CWB will sponsor the AGA’s “Empowering Arts & Business” community market series, which showcases the work of local artists, artisans, creators and makers.

“Supporting local artists and makers aligns with our efforts to both enable business and support inclusivity,” says Lacey Jansen, Manager of Community Engagement at CWB. “The AGA has a significant role in giving local artists the opportunity to pursue their entrepreneurial ambitions. With this investment in these markets, we’re proud to contribute to the prosperity and vibrancy of Edmonton’s downtown.”

“We are very grateful to CWB for their support,” says AGA Executive Director and Chief Curator Catherine Crowston. “This partnership will enable the AGA to invite more visitors to the heart of Edmonton downtown and showcase works by local artists, makers and creators with diverse backgrounds and creative approaches.”

The first market in this series is the AGA’s second annual Comic and Zine Market, which will take place on May 20 and 21. From 11am to 5pm, visitors can explore comics, zines and multiples by talented local vendors.

Admission to the market is free.
