Vibrant Streets Art Contest to help brighten Edmonton’s communities

Spread the love

The City of Edmonton has launched the Vibrant Streets Art Contest. Residents are invited to submit artwork designs for traffic control boxes throughout the city.

In January 2023, the City of Edmonton developed a new Vibrant Streets program to support community-led efforts to transform public spaces into beautiful, inviting places to gather and celebrate diverse and creative communities thriving across Edmonton.

“Adding artwork to traffic control boxes helps curb graffiti, improve wayfinding and brighten outdoor spaces,” said Jenny Albers, General Supervisor of Planning and Permitting, Traffic Operations. “It allows residents to share their ideas and creativity through art showcased throughout our beautiful city.”

An online voting tool is available on Engaged Edmonton for residents to vote for their favourite design. The 12 designs with the most votes will be selected as the winning artworks. Winners will receive a $150 gift card for the City of Edmonton attractions and rec centres. These designs will decorate twelve traffic control boxes, one in each ward.

The contest runs until Friday, September 29, 2023, at 11:59 p.m.
