Outdoor Pools

The Fred Broadstock pool is set to open a week later, on Saturday, May 25. Wîhkwêntôwin Outdoor Pool, translating to ‘circle of friends’ and formerly known as Oliver, along with the Borden Natural Swimming Pool, are expected to open in June. Notably, Wîhkwêntôwin Outdoor Pool will be celebrating its centennial in 2024, with special festivities planned, details of which will be revealed as the date approaches.

Mill Creek Outdoor Pool is slated for a summer 2024 reopening following four years of rehabilitation. Specific details for the reopening event will be shared closer to the date.

Reservations for pool entries can be made seven days in advance of each pool’s opening, starting with Queen Elizabeth Outdoor Pool on Saturday, May 11. While not mandatory, reservations are recommended to secure preferred swim times during public sessions and to enhance the visitor experience. Visit movelearnplay.ca to make reservations. Note that lane swimming does not require reservations, and swim start times along with schedules can also be viewed on MoveLearnPlay. Each pool will offer four timed entry slots daily, with drop-in access subject to capacity limits.

2024 admission prices are in effect. Access to outdoor pools is included with the Value level admission and does not cover instructor-led activities. Benefit Plus level memberships do include outdoor pool programs. Admission is free for children under two.

Outdoor pool access is included with all City of Edmonton Recreation Centre memberships, including Summer Child and Youth Passes, available from June 11 to August 31, 2024. Prices are set at $25 per month for children aged 2-12 and $35 per month for youth aged 13-17.

City Hall Fountain

The summer season also heralds the activation of the City Hall Fountain, beginning Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., daily. A special Splash Day event is scheduled for Saturday, May 25, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with more details to come.

Weather-Related Changes

Please note, operating hours and the availability of the pools and City Hall Fountain are subject to adjustments based on air quality and weather conditions, such as heavy rain or lightning.
