The Foundation for Black Communities (FFBC) is excited to announce the launch of the Black Ideas Grant (B.I.G.) 2.0, 2024. With a $9.5 million investment, this initiative aims to support Black-mandated, Black-led, and Black-serving (B3) charitable and non-profit organizations across Canada. The grant provides flexible, one-year funding for initiatives designed to tackle the most pressing challenges within Black communities, with a focus on improving socio-economic outcomes.
What is B.I.G. 2.0?
The Black Ideas Grant 2.0 empowers B3 organizations to create and lead impactful projects that focus on one of the following three areas:
Combatting Anti-Black Racism
Improving Social Outcomes
Enhancing Economic Outcomes
We understand the value of initiatives that drive measurable and meaningful change within Black communities. Whether you’re working to break down systemic barriers or enhance community well-being, B.I.G. 2.0 provides the resources needed to make a lasting difference.
Eligibility
To qualify for funding, your initiative must:
Be led by a Black-mandated, Black-led, and Black-serving (B3) organization.
Address at least one of the focus areas and align with the Sustainable Development Goals and Social Determinants of Health.
Be based in Canada and completed by March 31, 2026.
Note: Unincorporated organizations or groups may apply in collaboration with an incorporated partner organization.
Grant Amounts and Streams
B3 organizations at various stages of development can apply for one of three funding streams:
Core Stream: Up to $30,000 for core and operational needs not tied to programming.
Catapult Stream: Up to $80,000 to launch new programs or expand existing services.
Community Spaces Stream: Up to $200,000 for capital projects and social infrastructure.
Choose the stream that aligns best with your organization’s needs and development stage.
