
Congratulations to Emem Madu on Her Appointment to the Alberta Court of Justice
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Emem Madu on her appointment as a Justice for the Edmonton Family and Youth Division of the Alberta Court of Justice, effective January 31, 2025. This is a significant achievement and a well-deserved recognition of her outstanding legal career and dedication to justice.
Ms. Madu brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to serving Albertans. Her journey began with a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, in 2002, and a Barrister at Law from the Nigerian Law School in 2003. She furthered her legal education with a Master of Laws from the University of Alberta in 2007.
Her impressive career includes working as a sole practitioner since 2012, first at Laurier Law Office and later at Tisel Law in Edmonton. She has also held diverse roles such as a regulatory compliance specialist at ATB Financial, a policy and legislation analyst at Alberta Justice, and a research lawyer at Brownlee LLP.
This appointment highlights her exceptional qualifications and dedication to ensuring access to justice for Albertans. As a Justice for the Edmonton Family and Youth Division, Ms. Madu will continue to make a profound impact on families and communities.
We also recognize Alberta’s government for prioritizing judicial appointments to address vacancies, increase court capacity, and ensure timely resolution of civil, criminal, and family matters. These efforts reinforce the importance of a robust and accessible justice system.
