@afroedmontonian If you’re craving authentic Nigerian food, here are four spots my foodie friend (@misslummie) and I tried, along with what we ordered and how much we spent. 📍Lagos Flavors (10514 111 Street NW) This place brings all the Lagos vibes. The decor alone took me back, and I spent more time here just enjoying the ambiance. Miss Lummie and I shared a platter: the full grilled fish combo with bole (roasted plantain) and an extra side of yam fries. I ordered their jollof rice + suya as a takeaway. 💲88 (minus tip but includes two drinks of Chapman and Zobo) 📍 Emgees African Restaurant @emgees.restaurant (4510 Calgary Trail NW) This is a fast-food-style spot where you can see the food before ordering. I got amala with efo riro, while my friend got their asun rice with plantain and fish. 💲83 minus tip 📍 Lochi Afro Nija (10335 100 Ave NW) It was a downtown find! I had their goat meat pepper soup, white rice, and plantains. You know you can never go wrong with fried plantains. Miss Lummie had their spicy turkey with plantains (there were four chunky pieces of turkey). They also sell Nigerian pastries, and while I wasn’t a fan of the meat pie because of the thick crust, my friend liked it A LOT. 💲73 plus tip 📍 Royal Five Restaurant (9156 23 Ave NW) Technically Cameroonian-owned, but they serve Nigerian dishes. I had afang soup with garri (Eba). Miss Lummie got suya and plantain. Then I ordered suya to go with whole fish and yam fries. I really liked it here. The service was so good. The ambiance was equally lovely, and the food made sense die! We highly recommend their suya😀 💲109 (minus tip but also includes two smoothies) All these spots are available on Uber Eats and Skip, so you can also enjoy them from home. Which one are you trying first? Let me know in the comments.
