Giselle General, a long-time Edmonton community advocate and second-place finisher in the 2021 municipal election, has officially announced her candidacy for Edmonton City Council in Ward sipiwiyiniwak for 2025.
With over two decades of service in the nonprofit sector, civic boards, and community leagues, Giselle enters the race with a renewed commitment to grassroots leadership and a deep understanding of the issues affecting everyday Edmontonians.
Born in the Philippines and raised in Edmonton after immigrating as a teenager, Giselle’s platform is shaped by both personal experience and professional dedication. A graduate of the University of Alberta’s business program, she has served on numerous boards including the Edmonton Transit Service Advisory Board, the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues, and various multicultural and advocacy-based organizations.

Giselle is known for her approachable leadership style and her unwavering belief in public engagement. “I’m running again because I believe every resident in Ward sipiwiyiniwak deserves a City Council that listens, follows through, and is genuinely connected to our everyday experiences,” she shared.
Launching her campaign digitally, Giselle is prioritizing accessibility through social media, online engagement, and a newly updated website. A community launch event is expected later this month.
