5 Days for the Homeless student campaign
The University of Alberta’s 5 Days for the Homeless campaign is calling Edmontonians to lace up their running shoes for a cause that matters. On Saturday, October 25, 2025, students will host a Halloween-themed Monster Dash 5K Run at Emily Murphy Park to raise awareness and funds for youth experiencing homelessness.
This student-led initiative combines fitness, fun, and community spirit with a powerful purpose. All proceeds from the run will go directly to Youth Empowerment and Support Services (YESS), an Edmonton-based organization that provides shelter, resources, and support to vulnerable young people.

Why It Matters
Youth homelessness remains a pressing issue in Edmonton and across Canada. For many young people, organizations like YESS provide not only a safe place to sleep but also pathways toward healing, education, and brighter futures. Events like the Monster Dash create opportunities for the community to come together and stand behind these youth.
