Nigerian Startups Join Alberta Catalyzer

Spread the love

Taproot Edmonton in their daily news round up reported this morning that a start-up company from Nigeria called Laba Foods will be joining an Alberta program called the Alberta Catalyzer. The  Alberta Catalyzer is a merit-based program series supporting founders and their startups anywhere in Alberta. Divided into three phases, the program is an unprecedented realignment, harmonization and expansion of startup support in the province.

Alberta Catalyzer will deliver business supports and advice to qualified founders, entrepreneurs and startups in the early stages of development, preparing them to advance to the scale-up and acceleration stages. With a focus on equity, diversity and inclusion, this pre-accelerator program will feature coaches and mentors who reflect the diversity of Alberta’s population and will ensure advocacy and support for previously underserved tech-founder communities.

According to Taproot Edmonton, Alberta Catalyzer, is a collaboration between Innovate Edmonton and Platform Calgary.

Laba Foods is not the only Nigerian startups that made the initial 35 company cohort. The other Nigerian companies are: True words Connect owned by Bernard Owusu & Dixyantar in Airdrie, AB. SeeHaderah Inc, Online Offline Education based in Calgary, Kamze by Adiele Ohanyere in Calgary, Akose by Tosin Kueye and Divine Adekanmbi and Afro Facts by Lilah Penddah. Meet the founders and their startups here.
