About Launa
Launa is a seasoned executive and board member with deep experience and a proven track record in driving early-stage organizations to scale and long-term maturity. She is adept at working within multi-stakeholder environments, new product development, and guiding entrepreneurs and organizations, and enabling the next generation of leaders through the various stages of organizational transformation to maturity.
Most recently, Launa was the interim Chief Executive Officer at Edmonton Unlimited. Prior roles included Chief Operating Officer at Hepion Pharmaceuticals, a NASDAQ-traded biotechnology company, CEO of TRIO, a global clinical research organization specializing in managing global oncology trials, COO at Isotechnika Pharma Inc, a TSX-traded biotechnology company, and consultant/advisor providing strategic guidance for numerous early-stage drug/medical device companies.
She is Board Chair at Applied Pharmaceutical Innovation, an Edmonton-based industry-led not-for-profit organization that serves as a catalyst in supporting the development of life science products and companies in Canada, and a Board member of Edmonton Unlimited, an Edmonton-based, government-funded not-for-profit organization supporting innovators and their companies to grow, thrive, and develop into sustainable companies.
Launa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Lethbridge and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Alberta. She holds a Regulatory Affairs Certification (RAC) and is a graduate of the Ivey Business School Executive Program at Western University.
