Africa Centre is hosting the 15th annual gala celebration and fundraiser on Saturday, June 17th, 2023, in support of the Africa Centre Mental Health Counselling Clinic.
This celebration is a formal dinner gala that attracts over 450 guests to the Edmonton Expo Centre Alberta Ballroom for a night of culture, delicious African-inspired food, awards, entertainment and a dance! The event’s objective is to empower communities to share their sacred teachings and worldviews in an innovative, engaging, and festive manner.
Africa Day gala is grounded on the belief in a universal bond of interconnectedness to preserve the intrinsic worth of humanity through cultural expressions.
The 15th Annual Africa Day Gala in Edmonton, Alberta, will focus on the resilience of the Black community in regard to mental health. With the theme “Celebrating the Resilience of Black People in Mental Health,” the gala will pay homage to the strength and fortitude of the Black community as they navigate challenges related to their mental and emotional well-being. The event will provide a platform to recognize and celebrate the ways in which Black people have overcome obstacles related to their mental health and shed light on the ongoing struggles and disparities they face.
This year’s Gala will support the Africa Centre Mental Health Counseling Clinic, which provides free counselling services from various licensed therapists. A partnership with Alberta Black Therapists Network (ABTN).
