Amal Mohamud is an award-winning journalist and producer from Edmonton, Alberta.
She is a first-generation Somali Canadian who is passionate about promoting diversity on screen. Amal has worked with OMNI Alberta, AMI Accessible Media, CBC Edmonton Creator Network, City News Edmonton, Edmonton Foundation Community and Muslim Kids TV as an independent producer and journalist.
She began her career volunteering for Shaw TV Edmonton’s community program in 2015. In recent years, Amal has developed her writing, producing, presenting, and directing skills, and has quickly become a voice of her generation, winning three community awards for highlighting the stories of marginalized communities and underrepresented voices in Canada. Amal Mohamud hopes to continue her work of increasing representation in the media.
