Amal Mohamud is a freelance journalist, writer, director and producer from Edmonton. Amal recently developed her first mainstream documentary project with Accessible Media Inc. The episode is about how Easter Seals Alberta is making the efforts to bring virtual events accessible and how it’s impacting lives.
Amal Mohamud is a first-generation Somali Canadian who is breaking barriers through her media work in Canada. Amal has worked with OMNI Alberta and AMI Accessible Media as an independent producer. She began her career volunteering for Shaw TV Edmonton’s community program in 2015. In recent years, Amal has developed her writing, producing, directing skills and has quickly become a voice of her generation, winning three community awards for highlighting the stories of marginalized communities and underrepresented voices in Canada.
