Canada Summer Jobs | Funding for 2022

The program provides wage subsidies to employers from not-for-profit organizations, the public sector, and private sector organizations with 50 or fewer full-time employees, to create quality summer work experiences for young people aged 15 to 30 years.

The Government of Canada aims to ensure that all CSJ funded job opportunities take place in a safe, inclusive, and healthy work environment free from harassment and discrimination.

Edmonton Heritage Council is looking for Jurors and Jury Chairs

The Heritage Community Investment Program (HCIP) is one of the Edmonton Heritage Council’s grants programs, providing financial supports to organizations and community members telling important stories about our community.

They are looking for new jurors and jury chairs for the 2022 season.

Jurors review applications and work collaboratively to decide who gets funding.

Jury Chairs help to facilitate the jury discussion and support fruitful conversation.

This year the Edmonton Heritage Council are looking for a more diverse pool of community jurors. They are looking for soft skills and willingness to learn; if you believe this would be an exciting opportunity please do not hesitate to apply by January 10, 2022.

-In a large sauce pot add the sorrel, ginger, allspice,cloves, cinnamon, orange peel and water
-Bring to a boil for about two minutes then reduce to a simmer for 2-3 hrs
-Remove from heat then let sit and cool for an additional 2-3 hours ( the longer the better)
-Use the sugar to make a simple syrup ( which works better for incorporating in the sorrel)

Atlantic Immigration Program

Permanent Atlantic Immigration Program

Canada has decided to close the Atlantic Immigration pilot when it expires on December 31, 2021. The pilot will be close and provincial endorsements will no longer be issued. The success of the pilot has led the government to make it permanent with the launch of the Atlantic Immigration Program. Canada will begin accepting applications from March 6, 2022.

Amal Mohamud is a first-generation Somali Canadian who is breaking barriers through her media work in Canada. Amal has worked with OMNI Alberta and AMI Accessible Media as an independent producer. She began her career volunteering for Shaw TV Edmonton’s community program in 2015. In recent years, Amal has developed her writing, producing, directing skills and has quickly become a voice of her generation, winning three community awards for highlighting the stories of marginalized communities and underrepresented voices in Canada.
