Spread the love

On Friday, August 15th, 2025, LCCMedia and Miss Purple Media hosted the Ward sipiwiniwak Candidate Forum, continuing our city-wide series of election conversations leading up to the 2025 Edmonton municipal election.

The forum provided residents with an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates running to represent Ward sipiwiniwak at City Hall. Over the course of the evening, candidates discussed a wide range of issues that matter most to the community, including:

  • Infrastructure & Roads – addressing potholes, road upgrades, and snow clearing.

  • Public Safety – ensuring safer transit stops, schools, and neighbourhoods.

  • Affordability & Housing – balancing property taxes with the urgent need for affordable housing and smart growth.

  • Ward Identity & Inclusivity – strengthening community ties and ensuring representation of diverse voices.

  • City Services & Accountability – improving responsiveness, transparency, and ensuring value for taxpayer dollars.

  • Unemployment: which is high in Edmonton at the moment.

Residents tuned in virtually to engage with the discussion and gain insight into each candidate’s vision for Ward sipiwiniwak. The forum’s moderated structure allowed for thoughtful answers and fair debate, highlighting both shared priorities and differences in approach.

By making this series accessible online, we continue to give Edmontonians the chance to participate in democracy and make informed choices ahead of election day.
