“Each September, Alberta proudly marks Month of the Artist, a time to celebrate and honour the incredible contributions of artists across our province. From visual artists and poets to dancers, musicians, filmmakers and storytellers, Alberta’s artists connect communities, tell our stories and showcase the beauty of the province we call home.
“The arts bring Albertans joy and inspiration, and are a powerful economic driver in our province, contributing more than $1.3 billion to our provincial GDP and supporting more than 18,000 jobs annually. Our commitment to supporting the arts strengthens our economy and continues to be one of the reasons Alberta is the most dynamic and resilient province in Canada.
“I am proud to continue supporting Alberta’s artists through our record-level funding of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, which included an increase of $4.5 million this year as part of a three-year commitment that will result in a more than $43-million annual investment by 2027-28.
“With this year’s funding set to support more than 400 organizations and hundreds of individual Alberta artists, our investment reflects the immense value artists bring to our lives and communities.
