NurtureBridge Foundation — Care, Connection & Community
Spotlight Feature:
NurtureBridge Foundation is a grassroots nonprofit based in Edmonton that aims to uplift women, support newcomers, and strengthen families through inclusive, culturally sensitive, trauma-informed programs.

Mission & Approach
NurtureBridge is built on the belief that everyone deserves to feel seen, supported, and connected. Their work is grounded in values of equity, respect, and collaboration. They strive to create safe spaces where participants can heal, grow, and belong—no matter their background or life circumstances.
They also acknowledge that they operate on Treaty 6 territory and commit to walking in solidarity with Indigenous communities, recognizing colonial histories and aiming for reconciliation and respectful relationships.
Programs & Services
NurtureBridge offers a growing suite of offerings tailored to meet community needs:
-
Women’s Empowerment — workshops (like “HER-conomy”), mentorship circles, wellness and leadership development to help women gain confidence, financial independence, and community agency.
-
Newcomer Integration Support — assistance for newcomers with language, employment readiness, resource navigation, cultural orientation, and connections to community services.
-
Family Support & Wellness — parenting and relationship workshops, wellness education, and family-oriented events to foster emotional health and family stability.
-
Additional Supports — including men’s empowerment (peer mentoring, life skills, fatherhood resources), 2SLGBTQIA+ support, youth leadership, and community engagement initiatives.
Leadership & Vision
Jennifer Coker is the founder of NurtureBridge. Her vision is to build a Canada where everyone—regardless of background, gender, or life circumstances—has the support and opportunity to thrive. Under her guidance, NurtureBridge positions itself not just as a service provider, but as a partner in community building—co-creating programs with participants, collaborating with other agencies and cultural groups, and elevating voices especially those that are often marginalized.
Why NurtureBridge Matters
-
It fills a gap in supports for women, newcomers, and families who may not always find culturally safe or trauma-informed services elsewhere.
-
By offering a holistic model—supporting social, emotional, economic, and relational well-being—NurtureBridge helps participants build resilience, not just survive.
-
Its commitment to inclusion, collaboration, and community leadership helps ensure that programs reflect real needs and evolve with community input.
