The Financial Empowerment Initiative Launches 2026 Free Tax Clinics in Calgary and Edmonton
Calgary & Edmonton, Alberta – February 2026 – The Financial Empowerment Initiative (FEI) is pleased to announce the launch of its 2026 Free Community Tax Clinics in Calgary and Edmonton, providing confidential, no-cost income tax preparation services for low-income individuals and families.
The clinics will run from early March through April 30, 2026, offering both in-person and virtual options to ensure accessibility for residents across both cities.
Calgary Free Tax Clinic
Location: Calgary Full Gospel Church

Days: Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays
Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Format: In-person only
Edmonton Tax Clinic
Location: Africa Centre
11808 St. Albert Trail NW, Edmonton, AB T5L 4G4
Dates: March 5 – April 30, 2026
In-Person: Thursdays & Fridays
Virtual: Mondays & Tuesdays
Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Who Qualifies
The clinics are designed for individuals and families within the following income guidelines:
1 person: up to $35,000 2 people: up to $45,000 3 people: up to $47,500 4 people: up to $50,000 5 people: up to $52,500 Each additional person: +$3,000
These services are ideal for seniors, newcomers, students, and working families who need support filing simple tax returns.
What We Prepare
FEI volunteers prepare simple tax returns including:
Employment income (T4, T4E, T4A, OAS) Pension income (T2202A tuition slips included) Basic credits and deductions Charitable donations Medical and dental expenses Childcare expenses RRSP contributions
What We Do Not Prepare
The clinic does not prepare returns involving:
Self-employment income Rental income Farming or fishing income Bankruptcies Deceased persons Interest exceeding $1,000 Complex returns requiring professional accounting services
Supporting Financial Stability in the Community
For many individuals and families, filing taxes is more than a yearly requirement — it is the gateway to accessing government benefits such as the Canada Child Benefit, GST credits, and other income supports.
By offering free and confidential tax preparation, The Financial Empowerment Initiative helps residents access the benefits they are entitled to, reduce financial stress, and strengthen long-term financial stability.
Since launching its tax clinics, FEI has supported thousands of community members across Alberta, working in partnership with organizations such as the Africa Centre, AIMCo Foundation for Financial Education, Dexteritas, and the Edmonton Community Foundation.
