A CELEBRATION BY JOY BY BLACK ARTISTS AND PERFORMERS THROUGH MUSIC, ART AND STORYTELLING

In its 18th year, 5 ARTISTS 1 LOVE Artists and Performers to share stories and tunes of Joyful Noise highlighting Edmonton’s Black Artistic Talent.

Edmonton’s vibrant Black community is gearing up to celebrate Black History Month with the eagerly anticipated 5 Artists 1 Love musical show on February 3rd, 2024 at the Winspear.

“5 Artists 1 Love is more than just an event; it’s a vibrant celebration of Black joy, creativity and resilience,” says Darren Jordan, Founder and Producer of the 5 Artists 1 Love. “We’re thrilled to provide a platform where the diversity and richness of Black culture can be celebrated and shared with the wider community.”

Each year, a new theme celebrating a different aspect of Black history is unveiled, while the line-up of performers remains a surprise until the days leading up to the event. This year, the theme is ‘Joyful Noise’. 5 Artists 1 Love took to social media and posed the question ,“what song immediately brings you joy when you hear it?” The answers will have you pleasantly surprised or nodding your head in agreement. Attendees will be treated to an array of joyous songs, poetry and performances.

“This year’s 5 Artists 1 Love is based on songs that ignite joy and hope when you hear them . It touches on amazing music genres birthed from adversity & showcases the incredible talent within our own communities,” says Leshan Masikonte, Musical Director. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for all Edmontonians to immerse themselves in the beauty of Black art and culture.”

“We’re inviting everyone to join us in this unique celebration. Whether you’re an art enthusiast, a music lover, or simply curious, there’s something in 5 Artists 1 Love for you,” adds Darren Jordan.

“JOYFUL NOISE” will be performed on February 3, 2024 at the Winspear Centre located at 4 Sir Winston Churchill Square. Tickets are available online at winspearcentre.com

General Admission – $55

VIP package – $80 includes pre-show reception with a meet and greet with the performers and producer.

Jordan, 5 Artists 1 Love produces events that celebrate Black history and provide residents with the opportunity to celebrate the cultural mosaic within Edmonton’s Black community. It explores the rich history of the African diaspora through art, music, dance, and poetry to help established and emerging artists further develop Black arts and culture and celebrate the accomplishments of Black Canadians.
