October 10, 2025 – Ottawa, Ontario

In a world that’s changing fast, Canada’s new government is focused on what we can control. Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced a series of practical steps to make life more affordable for Canadians, build a stronger economy, and protect essential programs families rely on.

Budget 2025 will spend less on government operations and cut waste so more funding can go toward lowering costs for families and supporting growth.

Here’s what’s coming:

Automatic federal benefits starting in 2026:

The CRA will automatically file taxes for low-income Canadians to make sure they receive benefits they qualify for—like the GST/HST credit, Canada Child Benefit, and Canada Disability Benefit. This will help up to 5.5 million people access benefits they may not even know they’re entitled to by 2028.

Permanent National School Food Program: This program, which feeds up to 400,000 children, is being made permanent. It saves families with two kids an estimated $800 a year on groceries and ensures children get healthy meals at school. The program will expand through partnerships with provinces, territories, and Indigenous communities.

Renewed Canada Strong Pass: Families and young people will be able to travel and explore Canada at lower costs from December 12, 2025, to January 15, 2026, and again in the summer. The pass includes free or discounted entry to museums, historic sites, parks, and a 25% discount on VIA Rail for young adults aged 18–24.

These new measures build on previous steps—such as cancelling the carbon tax, cutting taxes for 22 million middle-class Canadians, and removing GST for first-time homebuyers.

The message from the Prime Minister is clear: Canada can’t control what other countries do, but we can choose to build a stronger, more affordable future here at home. 🇨🇦
