On Saturday, May 25, 2024, theFei.ca hosted her inaugural Money and Marriage Seminar, attracting approximately 35 attendees or 16 families to the Calgary Full Gospel Church in downtown Calgary. This insightful event was designed to provide couples and individuals in relationships with the tools and knowledge needed to successfully navigate the financial aspects of marriage.

Sponsored by the AIMCO Foundation, the seminar comprehensively explored various financial topics crucial for marital harmony. The seminar was divided into several informative sessions, each focusing on a different aspect of financial management within a marriage.

The first session delved into the importance of understanding and managing assets. Couples were guided on how to identify their assets, understand their value, and make informed decisions about asset management. This foundational knowledge set the stage for more complex financial discussions later in the seminar.

Following the session on assets, the seminar transitioned to the topic of increasing financial capacity. Couples were introduced to strategies for enhancing their income potential and managing their finances more effectively. This segment emphasized the importance of financial growth and stability, offering practical tips on how to achieve both.

Conflict resolution was another critical topic covered during the seminar. Financial disagreements are a common source of tension in marriages, and this session provided couples with tools to navigate these conflicts constructively. Participants learned about effective communication techniques, the importance of empathy, and how to find common ground in financial discussions. This session aimed to strengthen relationships by reducing financial stress and fostering mutual understanding.

There was also an engaging discussion about prenuptial contracts. This session provided couples with a thorough understanding of the legal and financial implications of prenuptial agreements, emphasizing their importance in protecting individual and shared assets. Participants were encouraged to consider how these contracts could offer clarity and security in their marriage.

Budgeting was also a major focus of the seminar. Couples were taught how to create and maintain a budget that suits their unique financial situation. The session covered essential budgeting principles, such as tracking expenses, setting financial goals, and prioritizing spending. By the end of this segment, couples clearly understood how to manage their finances collaboratively and efficiently.

In addition to these core topics, the seminar offered insights into other critical areas of financial management, including debt reduction, savings strategies, investment planning, and credit management. Each session was designed to be interactive, encouraging participants to engage with the material and ask questions.

The sponsorship by AIMCO Foundation was pivotal to the event’s success. Their support enabled Fei.ca to provide high-quality resources and expert speakers, ensuring attendees left with valuable knowledge and actionable strategies.

Overall, the Money and Marriage Seminar was a resounding success. Attendees left the Calgary Full Gospel Church equipped with the tools and confidence needed to manage their finances together effectively. Fei.ca’s commitment to financial education and marital harmony was evident throughout the event, setting a strong foundation for future seminars and workshops.

Caribbean lunch was provided, and everyone was given a registration pack containing informational sessional materials. The Financial Empowerment Initiative is particularly grateful to the Calagry Full Gospel Church for their warm hospitality and reception.
