ACHA Hosts Volunteer Day Celebration & Hurricane Melissa Recovery Fundraiser on December 5

Spread the love

The Africa Caribbean Heritage Alliance (ACHA) is inviting the community to come together for a meaningful and joy-filled Volunteer Day Celebration & Hurricane Melissa Recovery Fundraiser on December 5, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the ACHA Office, 2nd Floor, 10025 – 102A Avenue, Edmonton.

Held in honour of International Volunteer Day, this event celebrates the dedication, passion, and generosity of volunteers across our community—individuals who give their time, skills, and hearts to strengthen the places we call home. This year’s celebration carries an even deeper purpose as ACHA raises funds to support families affected by Hurricane Melissa, which devastated several Caribbean communities and left many households in urgent need of recovery support.

A Day of Celebration, Culture, and Purpose

Attendees can look forward to a vibrant lineup of activities designed to bring people together:

Ornament-Making Workshops – A creative way to usher in the holiday season and enjoy hands-on fun for all ages. Winter Market – Featuring local vendors, handmade crafts, gifts, and cultural items that highlight African and Caribbean creativity. Live Band Performance by Earth Force – A dynamic performance from Earth Force – Eva-Ready Band, featuring Daddo H and Spapleton, adding music, culture, and energy to the celebration. Community Connections – A space to meet new people, celebrate volunteers, and support meaningful recovery efforts.

Supporting Hurricane Melissa Recovery

The fundraiser portion of the event will directly support families deeply impacted by Hurricane Melissa. Many people are still facing displacement, loss of homes, and unmet recovery needs. ACHA’s fundraiser aims to provide relief through community generosity.

In the spirit of accessibility and inclusion, the event is offered on a “Pay What You Can” basis—ensuring everyone can participate while supporting an important cause.
