LCCMedia’s Tee Adeyemo was excited to spend fifteen minutes with the Alberta NDP Leader, Rachel Notley.

We asked about whether or not the current UCP political situation was a gift to the Alberta NDP?

Notley was also asked about new ideas around childcare and how BIPOC women could participate in the high-paying jobs around Hydrogen and artificial intelligence?

The party recently unveiled their team for Calgary, which did not feature any Black candidates. There were other BIPOC representations on the team, though. Notley was asked about this.

She said that the entire team was unveiling, not the whole lineup. She added that they have an impressive list of Black candidates in Edmonton that would join the Alberta NDP team.

Alberta NDP would need to do more work to appeal to minority groups and people sitting on the fence. Their rallies- which we attended – are mainly participated by the dominant culture.

Indeed, they have Mr. David Shepherd and Ms. Rachi Pancholi but to be credible within the Black communities, they need to convince Black voices that they have a plan for equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Notley was also asked about new ideas around childcare and how BIPOC women could participate in the high-paying jobs around Hydrogen and artificial intelligence?

Our apologies if the chat felt rushed; it was. There was incredible pressure, and LCCMedia can surely do a better job adapting to that pressure.

Friends of LCCMedia have been in touch to say that the media chat was partisan.

Our response is, “we remain a media company, not affiliated with any political party. Our job is to create content impartially. This we have done since 2019 in our magazines, on this website and on our podcasts.”

“We remain in touch with the Premier’s office for a media chat.”

Viewers saw a passion for politics and the reality of living in a realm where inflation is burdensome, hospital waiting lists are incredibly long, and it’s genuinely hard to see a family doctor.

Insurance, gas, and utility bills have also skyrocketed.

These are not talking points; these are issues – if improved-  would immediately  the ameliorate the experience of living in Edmonton.

If we had more time, perhaps, we could. We are reading interview to do justice to the reading living conditions of BIPOC women who live in extreme poverty.
